What drives the cost of tree wrapping?
Three things: how high up the trunk and branches we wrap, how dense the wrap is, and how many trees. A tight three-inch spiral uses several times more light and labor than a loose six-inch wrap on the same trunk — which is why honest quotes ask about the look you want, not just the tree count.
How dense should a trunk wrap be?
Spacing between spiral passes is the single biggest factor in how a wrapped tree reads at night. Tighter spacing (around three inches) gives the solid column of light you see in town squares and resort landscaping; wider spacing (five to six inches) gives a softer accent for less cost. We'll show you both looks at quote time and price each honestly.
Can you light very tall trees?
Trunk and lower-canopy work covers most residential trees. Very tall canopies — mature live oaks and pecans past ladder height — are priced case-by-case, because they can require lift equipment. We'll tell you plainly at quote time what's reachable and what isn't.
Do the lights hurt the trees?
No. LED wraps run cool, they're installed snug but not tight, and everything comes off in January — a tree is never left wrapped through the growing season, which is what actually causes girdling damage.
Mini lights or C9 bulbs on trees?
Both have a job. Mini lights are the standard for trunk wraps and bushes — dense, delicate points of light. C9 bulbs suit long branch runs and canopy outlines where you want the bulbs themselves visible from the street. Many of the best yards use minis on trunks and C9s overhead, matched to the roofline.
Can I get trees lit without doing the roofline?
Yes. Tree and landscape lighting stands alone just fine — a pair of wrapped oaks flanking a driveway is a display in itself. That said, most customers who start with trees add the roofline the following season, so we design tree work to pair cleanly with a future roofline install.
